Services 

The primary purpose of the Flagg-Rochelle Public Library District is to provide its community with access to materials and services for education, information, and recreation; and to stimulate an interest in the communication of ideas to create an enlightened citizenship. The Library recognizes that its major emphasis must be a positive contribution toward the individual social and intellectual development and the removal of ignorance, intolerance, and indifference. In addition to a circulating collection of items, the Flagg-Rochelle Public Library District also offers the following services:

Interlibrary Loan 

Patrons with a Flagg-Rochelle Library card can request items from the other libraries in PrairieCat, our shared online catalog. If an item is not available in PrairieCat, our interlibrary loan department can search additional libraries in Illinois. Items must have been published for at least four months before they can be requested.

Computer Usage 

We offer computers for Internet usage and one for children's learning games. The eight computers on the main floor have the Microsoft Office software available for use. Forty-five minutes of computer use is free to our cardholders each day. Anyone without a library card can pay $1 for 45-minutes of use or purchase an annual $25 Computer-Use-Only card. Computer Use Policy

Wireless / WiFi Service 

Wireless service is available throughout the entire library and is free for anyone with a wireless modem. Wireless printing is now available. Click here to print!  Prints (B&W only) are 15¢ per page.  Print jobs will remain in the PRINT QUEUE at the Library for 24-hours.

Photocopies, and printing from our computers, are 15¢ per page. Black & white only.

Faxing 

We can fax anywhere in North America for $3.00 for the first page and $1.00 for each additional page. Please ask for international rates. We can receive faxes for you at a cost of $1.00 for each page. We encourage you to have your phone number included on materials faxed to you so that we can contact you. Faxes are kept at the Library for three days.

Courtesy Overdue Notices 

As a courtesy to our patrons, PrairieCat sends courtesy and overdue reminders by telephone and email for materials checked out at our Library. A Courtesy Reminder is generated 3 days before items are due; Overdue notices are generated 7, 14, 21 and 30 days past an item's due date. Notices continue to be sent until an item is returned or paid for. A BILL will be sent when items have been overdue 44 days. Genealogy / Local History 

The Library maintains a reference collection of county histories, cemetery indexes, family histories, city directories, the Rochelle High School yearbooks and county plat books. To request a search please fill out the online form, or send your request in writing with a self, addressed, stamped envelope to Flagg-Rochelle Public Library District, 619 Fourth Avenue, Rochelle, Illinois 61068 ATTN: Genealogy, or call 815-562-3431 for more information.

Meeting Rooms 

The Library’s meeting room facilities are intended primarily for the Library’s use and the use of community groups and organizations whose objectives are cultural, educational, or civic in character. The facilities are not intended for social gatherings, money-raising, religious, or partisan political purposes. A $25.00 refundable room deposit is required of all organizations, whether for-profit or not-for-profit, when reserving a room. No deposit or fee will be charged for one-to-one tutoring. To schedule the use of a room, please contact the Library.

Display Cases 

Display cases are available in both the adult and children's departments. Anyone wishing to put up an exhibit or display should contact the Library at least one month prior to the date the exhibit or display is needed.

Tax Forms 

The Library has an agreement with the IRS and Illinois Dept. of Revenue to be a distribution point for tax forms. Costs to copy or download forms are 15¢ per page.

Voter Registration 

Many of the Library staff are deputy voter registrars and can provide voter registration for residents who are not registered to vote or have changed his/her name. Registrars can also complete an address change for anyone who has moved to a new residence within the county. You need to bring two pieces identification. One ID must include your photograph and at least one must have your correct address. Voter registration closes 28 days before an election and resumes 3 days after an election.
